Raw Free Energy News Hopper -- August 23, 2011

This page contains items I placed in my news hopper, intending to format them for inclusion in the news, but limitations of having only so many hours in a day prevented it.  Rather than have them go unannounced altogether, I present them here in a raw format.

Preface Note:

Orgone Energy Generators is one of the topics we didn't have time to get to.

Compiled by Sterling D. Allan, Free Energy News
Covers misc. items submitted/culled from April 26 through Aug. 23, 2011

It's time once again for me to post these items that have been accumulating in my hopper.

There are some real gems here that I wish I had time to develop further, whether into full feature pages, or at least a news bullet, posted both in our news and in the appropriate directory pages.

Generally speaking, we get about twice as much great stuff as I have time to get around to in a given day, so some really fantastic stuff falls out of the inbox and gets lost in the shuffle.  Sometimes the very best stuff gets tucked away to get to later, because feature pages take a lot of effort -- especially the really good ones -- and later never comes.

And, of course, there is likely to be some bogus stuff here, along with some fraudulent stuff that we've not had the time to sift through yet.

Have fun.  There's something here for everyone.  Bookmark this page and come back from time to time.  You're not likely to get through all the stuff you'll find interesting in just one sitting.

If there is a particularly hot technology here that really needs to be included at PESWiki, please let me know; or better yet, build a feature page about it yourself so all I have to do is tidy it up and link to it from our news.

Unformatted News Stories

Features Hopper

Here are some links for pages I hoped to build features for.  May yet get around to it.  Maybe you could build a feature page at PESWiki for us on one or more of these? -- Sterling

Regular News Hopper

Here are some items I had in the hopper to post as regular news bullets.  There are, mixed in here, some material that was also going to go into feature pages. -- Sterling (Feb. 21, 2010)

For the most part, these are listed usually oldest first, newest last.

Hello Sterling ,

It's been a while since I last contacted you, but I have something that I'm sure will be of interest.

Some time ago I found a product advertised through Alibaba.com, a Green portable generator.

Here is the device on their website,

I did some research and found the patent application.  Go to the website,

Then enter M353570 in the quick patent search. You will note that a license was not granted, I don't know why.

I have been in contact with the company, and everything appears to be genuine. My understanding is that they are applying for international patents, hence the delay in getting the device on the market. They claim a 3kw output, probably at 12v.

After an email from me questioning whether the device really existed they sent me a photo (attached). I recently exchanged emails with them in which they said that things were progressing, but please be patient.

I would appreciate it if you would hold on posting this information on the website. I think it best that these people are not inundated with enquiries. I will keep you abreast of any updates.

I have spoken to the project manager. I also have a Taiwanese friend, one of her family over there confirms that it is a bonafide company.

Lets hope they don't get knobbled like the others.

Best regards,

John Aspray

Three systems of "Wave Gear Drive System-WGD" are proposed for Wave Energy Extraction and Power Leveling through the whole cycle. It consists of a buoyant float developing an uplift of 2.65 tons, using pulleys and reduction gear to directly drive pumps or generators:
1) Wave Air Pump-WAP:  Compresses air collects and feeds it to a turbo generator, thus reducing fuel consumption, maintaining power in absence of waves.
2) Wave Gear Drive Pump-WGDP: pumps water and feeds it to a hydro-turbo generator.
3) Wave Gear Drive Generator-WGDG: Drives a Generator to directly generate electric power.  The generator can be:
a) A synchronous AC Generator where Alternating voltage is conditioned; synchronized and feed to a step up transformer for transmission through a cable to the shore.
b) A DC Generator where Direct Current voltage is conditioned, converted to AC voltage, synchronized and feed to a step up transformer for transmission through a cable to the shore.

Breakthrough Invisibility Cloak Will Help Develop More Efficient Solar Cells

Researchers at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany , working in the new field of transformation optics, have created an invisibility cloak that could lead to more efficient solar cells. The researchers have been able to manipulate a beam of light — a red light at a wavelength of 700 nanometers — to actually make something visually disappear. This isn't all about making things disappear, however, the new technology's biggest promise is in the refraction of light — which will help scientists concentrate solar rays into more efficient solar energy technology.

Loowatt creates energy and fertilizer from human waste

Of all the things that people traditionally discard, one that most of us likely think the least about repurposing is human feces and urine. Sure, we recycle our plastic and paper, and compost our fruits and veggies, but ... that stuff? Actually, there are various worldwide projects aimed at using municipal raw sewage for things such as fertilizer or a power source. While those projects only come into play once the waste has been flushed, however, the UK 's Loowatt system gets users involved from the bottom up (sorry), collecting waste directly from the toilet and using it to create biogas and fertilizer. General Fusion's approach is based on "magnetized target fusion" concepts first developed about 30 years ago. This approach is a hybrid of traditional "magnetic fusion" and "inertial confinement fusion" methods, and involves first confining plasma in a magnetic field, and then compressing the confined plasma to thermonuclear conditions. General Fusion's patent-pending fusion technology involves the equipment needed to contain and compress the plasma, and the systems needed to manage the process.

LED bulb replaces 75-W incandescent

May 19, 2011 9:45 AM

Just in time for the U.S. phase-out of incandescent bulbs comes the Philips EnduraLED A21, a 17-W LED-based bulb billed as a replacement for conventional 75-W incandescent bulbs.

Developed by Royal Philips Electronics, the bulbs use the company's high-power, next-generation Luxeon LEDs. The bulbs were also devised to meet or exceed Energy Star qualifications for an LED-based replacement for 75-W incandescent bulbs. Those specifications call for delivering 1100 lumens with just 17-W, having a color temperature of 2700 k, a color rendering index (CRI) of 80, and a rated life of 25,000 hours.
Philips says it will submit the new bulb for Energy Star qualification testing in the coming months. It also expects to offer the bulbs for sale in the fourth quarter of 2011. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for consumers has not yet been finalized but is expected to be in the range of $40 - $45.
The new bulb's rated life is 25 times longer than that of the 75-W incandescent and it consumes 80% less energy than a traditional bulb.

QSolar's Rainbow-Hued Kristal Solar Panels Could Replace Windows and Walls

Solar panels often conjure up images of clumsy, dark sheets lined up in rooftop arrays on green homes and buildings. But what if they weren't dark and clumsy — and what if they didn't have to go on the roof? QSolar, the Canadian solar tech company that already brought us spray-on solar cells, has just released a new line of solar panels that are every bit as innovative. QSolar's Kristal solar panels are available in an array of colors — red, green, blue, pink, grey — and they can replace windows or even walls, opening up new possibilities for green building design. Imagine your house with a colored solar panel atrium, or a pink and blue skylight mosaic set over your local library. How about a solar-powered desert cabin with green solar panel walls on every side, or a greenhouse made entirely of these innovative panels?

Australian built Hoverbike prepares for takeoff

Adventurous motorcyclists might be familiar with the thrill of getting airborne at the top of a rise, but the Hoverbike is set to take catching some air to a whole new level. With a 1170 cc 4-stroke engine delivering 80 kW driving two ducted propellers, the inventor of the Hoverbike, Chris Malloy, says with its high thrust to weight ratio, the Hoverbike should be able to reach an estimated height of more than 10,000 feet and reach an indicated airspeed of 150 knots (278 km/h or 173 mph). At the moment these are only theoretical figures as the Hoverbike hasn't been put through its paces yet, but Malloy has constructed a prototype Hoverbike and plans to conduct real world flight tests in a couple of months. Roadside Service Vehicle with EV charger tested in Japan

One of the most frequently aired concerns when discussing electric vehicles (EV) is what happens when you run out of juice. Of course the obvious answer is that you break down, just like with a normal car - but with some forethought, you're not likely to let that happen. Should the unthinkable happen, however, some news from Japan may bring a little comfort to existing and prospective EV owners. The Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) and Nissan have just started testing a roadside service vehicle that's equipped with a charger to assist EVs. Read More

Cyclone-Powered Steam Racer Aims for World Record this Summer

Posted: 09 Jun 2011 08:20 AM PDT

I’ve written about Chuk Williams and his Cyclone engine before, as he seeks to bring the land speed record for steam powered cars back to America . The streamliner is complete, and could make a record run as soon as August.

I always get giddy when someone goes after a land speed record, and the current record for steam-powered vehicles rests with the British and their “kettle” racer. But whereas that vehicle features a one-off engine, Chuk’s streamliner will be powered by a Cyclone motor, a Rankine Cycle heat regenerative external (yes, external) combustion engine.

The pirouette effect in the chaos of turbulence
(PhysOrg.com) -- The quick mixing of coffee and milk after stirring or the formation of raindrops in clouds: these are just two of many phenomena in which turbulent flows play a decisive role. Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization and the Ecole Normale Superieure de Lyon have now discovered that the seemingly random turbulent flows actually have an astonishingly uniform structure. According to the findings, vortices are a basic ingredient of turbulent flows and they behave similarly to an ice-skater performing a pirouette – a technique whereby the skater bends his or her arms to increase the speed of rotation. The researchers monitored this pirouette effect in vortices of various sizes in a turbulent liquid. In doing so, they unravelled a mystery that has confounded turbulence researchers for decades – namely the question of how energy flows from large to ever-smaller vortices, and how it is ultimately converted to heat in the smallest vortices.

A winning solution for renewable energy and CO2 reduction?

A promising new innovation in geothermal technology, that offers a novel solution to climate change, has been created by two researchers from the University of Minnesota 's Department of Earth Sciences. The technology focuses on tapping heat from beneath the Earth's surface. By using high-pressure carbon dioxide (CO2) instead of water to extract the heat, the system has the potential to produce significantly more efficient renewable energy. At the same time, by sequestering CO2 deep underground, it actively reduces atmospheric CO2. It's being hailed as a two in one solution for climate change. Read More

D-Dalus - an entirely new genre of aircraft arrives

Austrian research company IAT21 has presented a new type of aircraft at the Paris Air Show which has the potential to become aviation's first disruptive technology since the jet engine. Neither fixed wing nor rotor craft, the D-Dalus uses four, mechanically-linked, contra-rotating, cylindrical turbines for its propulsion, and by altering the angle of the blades, it can launch vertically, hover perfectly still, move in any direction, and thrust upwards and hence "glue down" upon landing, which it can easily do on the deck of a ship, or even a moving vehicle. It's also almost silent, has the dynamic stability to enter buildings, handles rough weather with ease, flies very long distances very quickly and can lift very heavy loads. It's also so simple that it requires little maintenance and requires no more maintenance expertise than an auto mechanic. It accordingly holds immense promise as a platform for personal flight, for military usage, search and rescue, and much more. Read More

All the motors have one rotor and one stator, but in this motor, we have three neodymium discs (instead of a rotor) and two neodymium rings (instead of a stator) and one last neodymium ring that functions as a magnetic oscillator, self-excited by a stage of captors. Intentium is a Norwegian based wave power developing company. Intentiums concept differ from most other buoy absorbers, with a new focus on the dominant wave direction and wave crest length.

The patented concept has a relatively wide float stabilized up against the dominating  wave direction, combined with a double acting pump and a buoyancy controlled water anchor. The advantages of the concept is claimed to be; large energy pick-up per unit, possibilities for offshore installation, robust concept for mooring and PTO and as working fluid is water there is little risk of pollution. The company has its ovn small wavetank for early stage testing.

New alloy converts heat directly into electricity

The heat given off by electronics, automobile engines, factories and other sources is a potentially huge source of energy, and various technologies are being developed in order to capture that heat, and then convert it into electricity. Thanks to an alloy that was recently developed at the University of Minnesota , however, a step in that process could be saved – the new material is able to convert heat directly into electricity. Sam the Nemesis submitted an interview in Wired with Bill Gates on the future of energy. Gates sees nuclear as the only feasible option for base load generation. His views on the current direction of energy funding are particularly distressing: "But the economics are so, so far from making sense. And yet that's where subsidies are going now. We're putting 90 percent of the subsidies in deployment — this is true in Europe and the United States — not in R&D. And so unfortunately you get technologies that, no matter how much of them you buy, there's no path to being economical. You need fundamental breakthroughs, which come more out of basic research."

Oil is everywhere, especially in the plastics that have (literally) molded American society. But what if we could recapture the oil used in plastic and re-use it as fuel? That is what Greenstar Recycling and Vadxx Energy are attempting to do.

While we often consider motor vehicles to be the vessels of oil consumption, every plastic product on the planet is also made using petro-chemicals, from your milk jug to your credit card. The unfortunate reality is that a lot of plastic containers, toys, and even clothes end up in some landfill somewhere, and we’re basically throwing away energy. Enter Houston-based Greenstar Recycling and Cleveland-based Vadxx Energy.

Of all the energy-saving tips out there, probably the one we hear most often is to not leave lights on when we leave a room. It’s good advice, yet cities around the world are not following it in one key way – their streetlights stay on all night long, even when no one is on the street. The Netherlands ’ Delft University of Technology is experimenting with a new streetlight system on its campus, however, in which motion sensor-equipped streetlights dim to 20 percent power when no people or moving vehicles are near them. The system is said to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 80 percent, plus it lowers maintenance costs and reduces light pollution. Read More

Tesla Metamorphosis attracts great interest among scientists because clients report healings from many diseases that are considered incurable, such as cancer, AIDS, lupus, spine injuries, chronic fatigue syndrome, even healings from birth deformities. Also, healings happen very quickly. Most of the time, three sessions are enough. The news that letting photovoltaic panels take the solar beating will reduce the amount of heat reaching the roof shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, but the fact no one has thought to quantify just what the effects of rooftop solar panels on a building’s temperature are is a little baffling.

And, at the same time, can generates extra electric current (as we can see, the led lights connected to the motor are on).

The principle is easy to understand. All the motors have one rotor and one stator, but in this motor, we have three neodymium discs (instead of a rotor) and two neodymium rings (instead of a stator) and one last neodymium ring that functions as a magnetic oscillator, self-excited by a stage of captors. This captors commutes the magnet's polarities.

This very same principle its now being use in our last prototype: 1 HP (600 W free). We will upload as soon as possible an explication video for the HP.

The prototype that you seeing in this video provides 50 W free (12V CC - 4 Amp).

Wind-turbine placement produces tenfold power increase
Pasadena CA (SPX) Jul 20, 2011 - The power output of wind farms can be increased by an order of magnitude-at least tenfold-simply by optimizing the placement of turbines on a given plot of land, say researchers at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) who have been conducting a unique field study at an experimental two-acre wind farm in northern Los Angeles County. A paper describing the findings-the results of ... more

Deep below the Deepwater Horizon oil spill
Lausanne, France (SPX) Jul 21, 2011 - For the first time, scientists gathered oil and gas directly as it escaped from a deep ocean wellhead - that of the damaged Deepwater Horizon oil rig. What they found allows a better understanding of how pollution is partitioned and transported in the depths of the Gulf of Mexico and permits superior estimation of the environmental impact of escaping oil, allowing for a more precise evaluation o ... more

Trucks Get ‘Winglets’ To Make Them More Fuel Efficient

In order to make them more fuel efficient and aerodynamic, airplanes have winglets (curved structures) at the wing tips to reduce drag. ATDynamics are hoping that this same engineering trick will also work on the ground. The company has outfitted trucks with a TrailerTail to do exactly that. The clever device simply protrudes about four feet from the back doors of a tractor-trailer and reshapes the vortex left behind it while its in motion, and it decreases a truck’s fuel consumption by 6 percent.

The Nissan Leaf; Electric Car, Backup Home Power Generator

Posted: 03 Aug 2011 06:55 AM PDT

The advantages of electric cars are piling up as consumers and automakers alike come to realize just how versatile a giant battery on wheels can be. Nissan has unveiled an entire scale model of a Japanese home that the Leaf electric car can power for about two days.

Toyota beat Nissan to the bunch with the announcement that it’s Prius gas-electric hybrid will soon be coming with AC outlets that could also power a home for about two days. But Nissan has gone a few steps further than Toyota , as we will see in a second.

The revolutionary wave disc generator combustion engine

The mid-term future for fuel efficient vehicles with useful range is likely a hybrid solution of electric motors powered by batteries, topped up by a fuel-burning generator. Prof. Norbert Müller at Michigan State , backed by $2.5 million from the US Government, aims to make that last part of the equation a much more compact and efficient proposition with a revolutionary new form of combustion engine.

Scientists Discover Deep-Sea Mussels That Can Convert Hydrogen into Energy

According to scientists, there are mussels at the bottom of the ocean that are efficiently converting hydrogen into energy in their very own, nature-made hydrogen fuel cells. The mussels, discovered by the Max Planck Institute of Marine Microbiology and the Cluster of Excellence (MARUM), were found near hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor and have onboard symbiotic bacteria that convert hydrogen into energy. With this discovery, researchers might be able to clone the hydrogen eating bacteria to create all-natural hydrogen fuel cells to power things other than sea life.

Recycled PET Bottles Become Inexpensive Radiation Detectors in Japan

Researchers in Japan have developed a method for making radiation detection devices out of recycled PET bottles that cuts costs by 90% over currently used devices. The resource reusing, life-saving gadget was developed at Kyoto University by Hidehito Nakamura and his team and uses “Scintirex,” a plastic resin that glows when in contact with dangerous levels of radiation. The demand for radiation devices in Japan is high after the March 11th earthquake, tsunami and resulting nuclear disaster. The team hopes to have a final product by the end of September.
