Vehicles > Nova
Technologies Pursuing Self-Charging Vehicle Technology -
Institute claims to be developing a "self-recharging electric
vehicle, capable of converting ambient energy sources into usable
electrical power efficiently enough to power a 1,500 pound vehicle at
highway speeds for unlimited distances without the combustion of any
kind of fuel or emission of any exhaust." (PESN; Dec. 30)

- Alternative
Fuels > Peat
grows as new fuel source - Researchers have identified a
cheaper and more Earth-friendly fuel source: peat, that half-rotted
vegetation that covers a considerable chunk of Michigan. They are
working to develop what they call "pethanol" to run small,
fuel-cell-powered vehicles. Peat forms naturally, is cheap to harvest
and requires no fertilization. (The Detroit News; December 26,
2006) (Thanks John

Toyota FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept Car - Toyota apparently
wants teenage boys to daydream about hybrids. The FT-HS hybrid sports
concept car will be premiered on January 7 at the North American
International Auto Show. What is interesting is the "halo"
effect it could have, making hybrids desirable to a new public. (TreeHugger;

Latest Quantum Free Energy Generator News - Kiril write:
"This is Anlotron3. Just preliminary tests, no excitement yet. In
this tests I put only 35-40 KW input power. I have tests with 100 KW
input power - very scary!!! The output power (after I complete the
system next month) will gives me 6-10 times over-unity. I'm absolutely
certain in that. I will run 10 times over-unity on the biggest my QFE
generator Anlotron4. This will be my big QFE hit. Smaller QFE
generators will be used for other applications (patent secret
now)." (FreeEnergyNews; Dec. 24)

Ocean Power - At a certain depth in the Ocean, the temperature
is at the anomaly point of +4 degrees Celsius, where, due to its
enormous density, it is not possible to absorb any gases. By lowering
a suitably designed length of pipe to the appropriate depth,
atmospheric oxygen is delivered through an outer jacket, and the water
will rise of its own accord up the center pipe, turning a turbine to
produce electricity. (Thanks John

Blood Protein Used to Split Water
from the what-else-are-you-going-to-use-it-for dept.
posted by Zonk on Friday December 01, @16:53 (Biotech)
http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/12/01/2127259
"Scientists have combined two molecules that occur naturally in
blood to engineer a molecular complex that uses solar energy to split
water into hydrogen and oxygen. This molecular complex can use energy from
the sun to create hydrogen gas, providing an alternative to electrolysis,
the method typically used to split water into its constituent parts. The
breakthrough may pave the way for the development of novel ways of
creating hydrogen gas for use as fuel in the future." |
