3-D Printing Presentation by Russ Gries
You Gotta Watch This!
I want to comment on this feature presentation by Russ that followed my recap of
this past week's news.
While I already had high regard for Russ, now he is in my "true hero"
I am dumbfounded that someone could build something like this 3-D Printer and
have it work. He makes it sound doable. And it cost him maybe $800. Astonishing.
I think this is my favorite show so far on Gary's program, and he's had a bunch
of excellent ones, including last week's interview
with Brillouin, which was a landmark presentation.
Now Russ has the ability print out pretty much any 3-D object within a certain
size range, running his machine 24/7.
Another thing I love about Russ is his illustration of how productive open
source can be. Everything he does is based on open source information; and he
contributes what he learns to that knowledge base. Kudos!
And now that he's coming up with the ability to recycle waste plastic into his
feedstock for the printer, he now has the ability to be the local savior for
building things needed if/when things fall apart in the world. Imagine the
relieve that brings to people who know him to know that he could replace some
broken component that can no longer be shipped in from China.
Add to that a free energy device to power it up, and you're independent of the
grid and able to do what you want, regardless of what has happened to the world
around you. You're neighbors are going to be keen to keep you alive, fed, and
protected from marauding bands.
The world needs many Russ Gries, and he has the personality to make this seem
possible. I want one in my town! When I clean up our basement, maybe I could do
it! But whereas it took Russ two months (one to build, one to calibrate), it would probably take me four times
that long. I'd prefer to be able to afford to buy one, plug-and-play. Still
waiting for one of the free energy ships to come in.
Russ told me you can buy a ready to go 3D printer for as cheep as $400-500 -- it
all depends on the size of the print area.
The more people who have this ability, the more stable our society becomes, and
less likely to go into complete melt-down. This is
a disaster mitigating
technology. It is a peaceful revolution. Kudos.

Power Energy Demo: "It's an Empty Metal Box" -
Shalender Singh has invited me to Silicon Valley to see a demonstration of
his "zero point energy harvester" that outputs in the milliwatt
range to light an LED; as well as creating a shocking sensation when you
come within the field of the unit, which is an empty metal shell of an old
electronic gadget. (PESN; September 17, 2013)
